First Visible Results of Three Years of Future Leaders Challenge in Morocco

Structural collaboration, growing inflow, and concrete initiativesdemonstrate the impact of the Future Leaders Platform

Rabar, 31 March 2025 – The Future Leaders Challenge Morocco 2026, held on March 30 and 31 at The View Hotel in Rabat, has once again demonstrated that Morocco is not only shaping the future of hospitality and tourism. It is actively positioning itself as a global catalyst for human capital transformation in the sector.

More than an event, the Future Leaders Challenge (FLC) is a powerful international movement. By bringing together students, academic institutions, industry leaders, and public authorities, it creates a unique ecosystem where Morocco connects with the world and where the world connects with Morocco.

Through this initiative, young talents are given the opportunity to engage with international hospitality and tourism standards, develop global perspectives, and ultimately bring that knowledge back to contribute to the sustainable growth and competitiveness of Morocco’s own industry. This dynamic exchange learning abroad, applying locally lies at the very heart of the FLC’s mission.

After three years of building the Future Leaders Platform in Morocco, the first structural results are now becoming visible. What started as an ambition to bring young people and the hospitality sector closer together has evolved into a movement in which education and industry collaborate sustainably.

A High-Level Commitment to the Future of Hospitality and Tourism

The event was honored by the presence of Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Morocco’s Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, and Social and Solidarity Economy. Her participation reflects a strong institutional commitment to developing human capital as a strategic pillar of the country’s hospitality and tourism vision.

Over two days, the Future Leaders Challenge created an unprecedented platform for dialogue between public decision-makers, industry executives, and the next generation of leaders. This convergence is instrumental in redefining how the sector attracts, develops, and retains talent ensuring that human capital strategies evolve in line with both local ambitions and global industry standards.

During the recent Future Leaders event, these results became clearly apparent not as isolated initiatives, but as signs of structural change within the ecosystem.

COMMUNITY OVER COMPETITION: A new Model for Talent Development

At the core of the Future Leaders Challenge lies a defining principle: “Community over Competition.”

More than 12 Moroccan institutions mobilized around a shared strategic challenge, working collaboratively rather than competitively. This unique model fosters collective intelligence, encourages knowledge sharing, and builds a generation of leaders who understand that the future of hospitality and tourism depends on collaboration across borders, cultures, and disciplines.

By aligning academic learning with real industry needs, the FLC actively contributes to building a highly skilled, agile, and forward thinking workforce ready to meet the evolving demands of a global sector.

One of the most notable developments is the collaboration between school directors, who now meet on a structural basis to better align education with the needs of the sector. This alignment leads to more relevant education and a stronger connection to the labor market.

A New Generation Shaping the Industry

After three months of intensive work, students presented bold, forward-looking solutions addressing some of the most pressing challenges in hospitality and tourism.

Their recommendations focused on key priorities shaping the industry’s future:

  • Digital innovation
  • Sustainability
  • Inclusion
  • Cultural valorization
  • Local community engagement

This growth is now also measurable: a clear increase can be seen in the number of students choosing education and careers in the hospitality sector. At the same time, the industry itself is showing a noticeable shift. Companies are collaborating more frequently and visibly, sharing knowledge, and jointly investing in the next generation.

Morocco as a Global Platform for Hospitality and Tourism

The 2026 edition confirms Morocco’s emergence as both a regional and global platform for reflection, innovation, and talent development in hospitality and tourism.

With over 80,000 stakeholders reached and more than $400,000 in PR value generated, the Future Leaders Challenge continues to expand its international footprint. But beyond the numbers, its true impact lies in its ability to connect ecosystems, inspire talent, and shape the future of the industry across borders.

By enabling students to access international opportunities while contributing to local transformation, the FLC embodies a powerful dual ambition: elevating Morocco on the global stage while strengthening its domestic hospitality and tourism ecosystem.

These developments demonstrate that the Future Leaders Platform not only inspires, but also contributes to structural system change. These first results mark an important milestone, but above all signal the beginning of further growth and impact in the years ahead.

Celebrating Excellence and Impact

The event culminated in the announcement of the three finalist teams and the winning project, highlighting the exceptional quality, creativity, and strategic thinking of participating students.

The winning team of the Future Leaders Challenge 2026 is Al Akhawayn University, represented by Rita Mrani, Douaa Al Miaadi, Aya Bassit, and Abderrahmane Youjil.

The Top 3 schools of this edition are Al Akhawayn University, followed by École Supérieure de Technologie Essaouira, and Université Internationale de Casablanca VATEL.

The Future Leaders Challenge Morocco 2026 is not just shaping the future of hospitality and tourism.

It is building it through people, through collaboration, and through a shared vision that transcends borders.
